Purpose of the Position: This position is with Manufacturing, Technology and Engineering (MT&E) corporate engineering division based in Asia. The role will support all Corning Incorporated divisions and manufacturing facilities in Asia, Indo-Pacific and US. Project assignments will require extensive travel (up to 75％) to Taiwan, South Korea, Vietnam, India, Japan, and US. To be successful in this role, the right candidate must build strong technical linkage within the Corning Technology Community and the different Engineering groups across Asia and in US. He or she must also drive vendors to fabricate automation systems and process equipment to meet Corning specifications and process requirements for manufacturing. Project involved with: Projects focus on implementing robust, cost-effective automation and process equipment for Corning manufacturing locations. Projects also require extensive collaboration with manufacturing, control / measurement / software systems, process engineering, and other related organizations. Day to Day Responsibilities: •Work independently to develop material handling automation, process equipment design concepts and detail mechanisms in response to manufacturing needs, issues, or problems. •Conduct engineering analysis to deliver robust and cost-effective solutions for fixture / gripper design, material handling, process equipment, and process improvement projects. •Provide directions to machine builders, systems integrators, and suppliers on design and fabrication of prototypes, production equipment and material handling automation. Proactively participate in design reviews, check-out, installation, debug, and production start-up. Deliver integrated equipment systems to internal customers on-time, on-budget, and on process performance targets. •Perform tests and evaluate data to make recommendations on automation and equipment performance. •Collect and analyze material handling or process needs to select suitable off-the-shelf automation such as industrial robots, collaborative robots, AMRs, AGVs, etc. •Program, teach, integrate, and troubleshoot off-the-shelf automation like robots, AMRs, etc. with connecting process equipment, conveyors, and buffers. •Communicate ideas and project status clearly and professionally in writing and orally. Day to Day Responsibilities: ▪Time and motion study. ▪Discrete event simulation and modeling with statistics knowledge base. ▪Conduct time and motion observation study on the production lines for various line performance related study. ▪Process mapping and understanding for discrete event simulation modeling. Identify data source, and define data requirements to be ready for modeling. Develop simulation model through configurations or coding as required. Interpret model output to address to the questions to be answered and provide recommendations. ▪Identify right approach in optimization methodology to solve complex network logistics and manufacturing problems, including data collection, model building, solving and reporting out. Interpret output to provide recommendations to meet objective. ▪Build data flow and analysis data using ML algorithms ▪Communicate and participate in technical information sharing and foster discussion on new methodologies in solving operational problems. Project involved with: ▪Communication with multiple stake holders such as manufacturing and engineering teams. Education & Experience ▪Bachelor’s degree and above in Industrial & Operations Research or Manufacturing engineering or related field of study. Required Skills ▪Previous ILE internship or industry project experience. ▪Hands-on experience on discrete event simulation modeling and analysis (FlexSim, ARENA, or other simulation commercial software). ▪Fundamental industrial engineering understanding and knowledge (ie.
